Small or Large Issues

Today I volunteered in the court house in small claims court. I have often found that small claims court is much harder for mediators than family court. Why? Well, in family court everyone has the potential to walk away with something. In Florida, there is equitable distribution of assets under the law, so things get split. In small claims court, this is not the case. In small claims court, people are usually fighting for their last dime (or at least close to it). In small claims court, more times than not, people also fight purely for the principle of the matter. For example, today I noticed on the court docket that a gentleman spent $150 in court costs and filing fees to simply sue for $250. Most people would say he is crazy. For him, yes…..it is more for the principle than the money.
Times are tough and things do not appear to be getting easier. People are still losing their jobs, unemployment benefits are not anywhere near what is actually needed to survive or take care of a family. Health care costs are outrageous and don't appear to be getting cheaper even with the new health care bill. Companies are downsizing in order to make larger profits and even moving overseas since there is so much government regulation that companies simply can't conduct business in the U.S. therefore cheap help in other countries is being hired and yes, American's are tired, hungry and broke.
If you need help in these difficult times. If you have family issues that need to be settled. If you have issues with your landlord or HOA.
